Spurious drugs

Sir, — This has reference to your recent article on spurious drugs (July 31). Drug manufacturers, in the name of cost cutting, have outsourced production and distribution to third-party contractors who are largely responsible for this kind of ugly situation in the health care industry. The situation cannot be rectified by law alone. The Government should abolish contract labour in the pharmaceutical industry.

R. Srinivasan,
Chennai
