By Our Special Correspondent
Jaideep Patwardhan of GAIL however continued to keep the lead with a four-stroke advantage over Gagan Verma. Shiv Kapur despite a two stroke penalty for "causing delay'' was also in striking distance five behind Jaideep. Gagan was in fine nick on the second day. Missing a hole in one by inches on the seventh hole when his tee shot lipped out, the Delhi Golf Club amateur played steadily to have two birdies and two bogeys in his card. Simarjeet looked like he was regaining his form after the first day's bad showing. He had a couple of birdies cancelled out by a couple of bogeys to submit a par card for the day. Jaideep just did not cash in on the opportunities on the second day. A birdie on the second was the only bright spot on the first half. Bogeys on the sixth, seventh and ninth saw him lose two strokes. However, with 36 holes to go the tournament looks wide open and any one of the first 12 after 36 holes could make a victory charge. The cut was applied at 21 over 161 and 52 golfers made the cut. Six amateurs scraped in with tied scores with the 47th ranked. The scores: (second round): 1. Jaideep Patwardhan (66, 72) 138, 2. Gagan Verma (72, 70) 142, 3. Shiv Kapur (70,73) 143, 4. Simarjeet Singh (74, 70) and Keshav Mishra (73, 71) 144, 6. Vikrant Chopra (72, 74) and H.S. Kang (72, 74) 146, Sandy Lehal(74, 73) and Nawab Singh (72, 75) 147, Anirbaan Lehari (76, 72), Sanjeev Singh (76, 72) and Kapil Dev (75, 73) 148 each.
