Srinivasan is SICAL's hero

CHENNAI Aug. 6. It is not often that a cricketer returns innings figures of eight for 82, and then, with his side in doldrums, scripts a knock of 177. SICAL's all-rounder K. Srinivasan achieved just that against holder Jolly Rovers, as the sixth round of the SPIC-TNCA first division league concluded here on Wednesday.

The match was delicately poised when play resumed, SICAL 255 for six, chasing 334 for the lead, with S. Vasanth Saravanan on 87, and Srinivasan 66.

When Saravanan (98, 230b, 8x4, 1x6) fell just two short of his century — the seventh wicket stand worth 151 in 43.3 overs — SICAL still required 61 to surpass Jolly Rovers' first innings score.

It was at this stage that M.P. Rajesh (39 in 136 balls) joined Srinivasan (177, 295b, 23x4, 1x6), and the two raised 114 for the eighth wicket in 44.3 overs, giving SICAL five points in the process. For Rovers, left-arm spinner R. Ramkumar finished with five for 123.

The scores: Jolly Rovers 333 drew with SICAL 431 for nine decl. in 148 overs (S. Vasanth Saravanan 98, K. Srinivasan 177, R. Ramkumar five for 123), at IIT-Chemplast. SICAL 5; Rovers 3.

SPIC 92 & 181 in 99.3 overs (Pravanjan Mullick 46, Sanjay Sathpathy four for 59) drew with Vijay 215 for two decl. & 26 for four in three overs, at SPIC-YMCA. Vijay 5; SPIC 3.

India Pistons 206 & 163 for six decl. in 33 overs (J. Ramdas three for 60) drew with Alwarpet 117 in 73 overs (M.A. Satish Kumar five for 31) & 87 for three in 38 overs, at CPT-IP. Pistons 5; Alwarpet 3.

Globe Trotters 420 for nine decl. drew with Mambalam Mosquitos 243 in 94.4 overs (P.C. Prakash 56, C. Ganapathy 52, T. Kumaran three for 29, Aashish Kapoor four for 43) & 184 for four in 57 overs (S. Sriram 53 not out, Aashish Kapoor three for 69), at MRF-Pachaiyappas. Trotters 5; Mosquitos 3.

UFCC (T. Nagar) 233 for six in 69 overs (U.R. Radhakrishnan 65, Vishal Kudawala 90, S. Padmanabhan three for 47) drew with ICF, at ICF. UFCC 3; ICF 3.
