Rupee gains 6 paise

MUMBAI AUG. 6. The rupee maintained its sharp upsurge against the U.S. dollar at the interbank foreign exchange market here today and shot up to 46.05/06 a dollar on increased inflow by exporters and foreign funds. However, the Indian unit remained depressed against the British pound sterling, the euro and the Japanese yen.

The rupee opened firm at 46.0850/0950 a dollar and after moving in a wide range of 46.0500-46.0950, ended sharply higher at 46.05/06 against yesterday's close of 46.11/12. — PTI
