Vajpayee renews RSS pledge

NEW DELHI
AUG. 6.
The Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, and several of his Cabinet colleagues from the BJP, participated in the `guru dakshina' ceremony of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh this morning at the residence of the Minister of State for Railways, Bandaru Dattatreya.
At this annual ceremony, RSS members renew their pledge to the organisation, salute the `guru' in the form of the `bhagwa dhwaj' (saffron flag) and make an "offering" in the form of money to the organisation. The Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, and the Human Resource Development Minister, Murli Manohar Joshi, were present.
