Broadcasters' offer on CAS

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI AUG. 7. Now that the Conditional Access System (CAS) appears inevitable, broadcasters are slowly falling in line and have come out with an introductory offer of providing all pay channels free-of-cost for a month to television homes which opt for Set-Top Boxes (STBs).

Though this has been informally communicated to the Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry, officials have asked broadcasters to make a formal announcement before August 14 when the second meeting of the CAS Implementation Committee is scheduled here.
