Key accused in Godhra case arrested

Godhra Aug. 8. A lawyer and one of the main accused in the Sabarmati Express carnage case, Rol Amin Hussain Hatila, was arrested by the Crime Branch sleuths here today.

The Special Inspector-General of Police, (Vadodara range) Rakesh Asthana, told UNI this afternoon that Hatila, a resident of Godhra, was absconding after the gruesome incident on February 27 last year.

Hatila, who was allegedly involved in the incident that left 59 passengers in the S-6 coach of the train dead, was nabbed from a hide-out in Godhra following a raid by the Crime Branch police, sources said.

He is likely to be produced before the POTA court in Ahmedabad for remand by the Special Investigating Team.

So far, 88 persons have been arrested in the case, About 50 are still absconding.
