This Day That Age
The question of Indians being employed in foreign firms in India figured in interpellations in the House of the People on the 11th. Dr. Choitram Gidwani wanted to know whether only 60 firms out of 1,200 in India had given a gentleman's undertaking not to take on new young British and foreign employees where trained Indians were available and suited to man posts. Commerce and Industry Minister, Mr. T. T. Krishnamachari said: "The Government do not contemplate that all foreigners should be sent out. What we want is that, progressively Indians must be associated more and more with the firms. From the employment point of view, we want Indian young men to go into these firms, and we should not seek to help with the unemployment problem of other countries... ''
