Jayagovind is NLSIU Director

BANGALORE AUG. 11. A. Jayagovind, the senior-most faculty member at the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) here, has been appointed its Director. An official release said the executive council of NLSIU appointed Prof. Jayagovind to the post for five years in consultation with the Chief Justice of India, who is a Visitor to the school. Hailing from Dakshina Kannada District, Prof. Jayagovind had his early education at Vittal. He graduated from St. Aloysius College, Mangalore, and studied law at the University Law College, Dharwad, and at Madras University. He got his doctorate in International Economic Law from the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. Prof. Jayagovind has been associated with the school since 1988. Before joining NLSIU, he taught at the School of International Studies, JNU, and the University of Skoto, Nigeria. He specialises in International Trade Law and his articles on the subject have been published in various national and international journals. Presently, Prof. Jayagovind is holding the Professorial Chair on WTO Studies, instituted by the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industries, at NLSIU.
