In a statement to the Press, Mr. Poojary said that the results of the elections were also a vote for the leadership of the AICC President, Sonia Gandhi, and an endorsement of the achievements of the S.M.Krishna Government. At a press conference, Mr. Poojary did not want to attribute the credit for the victory to any individual leader. "It is a victory for the people and I would like to thank them immensely," he said.
