Parking fee: HC quashes petitions

By Our Correspondent

BANGALORE AUG. 11. The Chief Justice, N.K.Jain, and Justice Mohan Shantanagoudar, constituting a Division Bench of the Karnataka High Court, today dismissed public interest writ petitions filed by P.Ishwar Bhat, advocate, and another person.

The petitioners had prayed for a direction to the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) not to levy parking fee for vehicles in Bangalore city.

The petitioners submitted that the BMP was collecting a fee from people who parked their vehicles on the roadside in some areas of the city.

They contended that it was illegal.

The judges, after hearing counsel for the parties, dismissed the writ petition.
