NEW DELHI
AUG. 11.
Progress in the peace initiative with Pakistan was reviewed at a 60-minute meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security chaired by the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee. "We discussed Pakistan,'' said the External Affairs Minister, Yashwant Sinha, after emerging from the meeting at the Prime Minister's residence.
Mr. Sinha said neither troops-for-Iraq nor the advanced jet trainer deal was taken up. "It was a routine meeting.''
The CCS meeting was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, the Union Finance Minister, Jaswant Singh, the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, K.C. Pant, the National Security Advisor, Brajesh Mishra, and chiefs of intelligence agencies.
