HYDERABAD: Chigurupati Varaprasad (46), a member of the Lions District 324 C 3 from Vijayawada, has been unanimously elected an International Director of the International Association of Lions Clubs, which has its headquarters at Illinois in the USA. A press release said he was the first person from the State, the fourth South Indian and the 16th Indian to become an International Director. He is one of 17 such persons elected from over 190 countries in the world and was elected at the recently -- concluded Lions International Convention in the USA. A Mechanical Engineer by qualification and educationist by profession, running the Sri Krishnaveni Group of Educational Institutions, Mr.Varaprasad became a member of the Lions Club of Vijayawada VRK Nagar in 1985 and went on to become District Governor. When he lays down office in 2005, he will be the youngest Past International Director.
