The awards were announced here by the Culture Minister, G. Karthikeyan, the Chalachitra Academy chairman, T.K. Rajiv Kumar and the jury members here today. The serial, `Sundarikalum Sundaranmarum', has been adjudged the second-best serial. Ali Akbar, Lucy Ali Akbar and Sunil Skaria Mathew are its producers. `Vilolam' was adjudged the best telefilm. The late scenarist, G.A.Lal, who wrote the screenplay of `Vilolam' and `Aazham', has won the award for the best script writer. Saji Surendran is the director of these two telefilms. `Suryakanthi' is the second best telefilm. Mohan, who directed the telefilm, `Sayyana Swapnangal', is the best director. Ambika Suthan Mangad is the best story writer. He had written the story for telefilm, `Commercial Break'. Siddique has been selected as the best supporting actor for his performance in `Vilolam' and Manju Pillai the best supporting actress for her role in `Sundarikalum Sundaranmarum'. Baby Neeraja is the best child artiste. She won the award for her performance in the telefilm, `Aakasa Thamara'. Rajesh, who cranked the camera for `Suryakanthi', is the best cameraman while M.Jayachandran won the best music director award for his scores in the telefilms, `Aazham' and `Vilolam'. Vinod won the award for best sound recordist for his contribution to the serial `Sayyana Swapnangal'. Pradeep Padmanabhan, the art director of `Suryakanthi', is the best art director. Sumi won the special jury award for her performance in `Commercial Break'. The award for best documentary went to `Om Gurubhyo Nama' directed by Babu Pisharody. Mr.Pisharody won the award for the best documentary director award too. N.K.Ravindran of Asianet and Anjana of Kairali have been adjudged the best news readers. Chandu is the best compere and the late Krishnakumaran Thampi, the best comentator. V.M.Deepa of Asianet has won the award for her programme, `Vaham Insar Ko Mera' based on the Gujarat violence.
