The action plan was approved at a meeting of the high-power committee appointed under the programme here this past week. The State Medical and Health Secretary, G.S. Sandhu, said while the basic facilities in the health sub-centres would be expanded at a cost of Rs. 5 crores, an equal amount would be spent on "Swasthya Mitra'' scheme in 10,000 villages. A provision of Rs. 3.86 lakhs was made for stockpiling of medicines and other material and equipment to facilitate prompt treatment of patients on the lines of a similar practice in Tamil Nadu. The action plan also provides for computerisation of the Directorate office and training of officials. The programme is proposed to be implemented in 10 districts of the State, including Nagaur, Bikaner, Dungarpur, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Banswara, Sirohi, Pali, Jalore and Jodhpur. The maximum allocation of Rs. 2.88 crores has been made for Barmer, followed by Rs. 2.77 crores for Jodhpur.
