Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad
By Our Special Correspondent
The Andhra Pradesh Central Electricity Distribution Company Limited, covering the city and its environs and six other districts, announced here on Monday the introduction of e-Pay service for payment of the bills made available by the State Bank of India through Internet at its 70 branches in the Twin Cities. At a press conference, the Discom CMD, Dinesh Kumar, and SBI Chief General Manager, S. K. Bhattacharya, and the General Manager, Syed Sahabuddin, said the facility would come into effect immediately and any power consumer in the Twin Cities having account in the SBI branch, could avail himself/herself of the facility by issuing a standing instruction to the bank branch through Internet. If there was no Internet facility at home, they can use the kiosks being made available at the bank branches. The bank officials said the facility would be extended to other Internet banking branches in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati by September 30 and later to all municipalities. The bank customers could use the facility for 11 billers, including insurance. More would be added in course of time. Mr Dinesh Kumar listed several payment options made available by the Discom such as eSeva counters, bill-desk, online payment, bill junctions and EROs. Customer care centres would be opened in all sub-divisions of Hyderabad and Secunderbad by August 15 and at all municipalities coming under the jurisdiction of the Discom by September-end.
