Bureaucratic reshuffle

New Delhi Aug. 12. Vinod Rai was today appointed Additional Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs and Sanjiv Misra, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, was also promoted to the rank of Additional Secretary in a bureaucratic reshuffle involving 15 senior officials.

Mr. Rai, Joint Secretary, Banking in the Department of Economic Affairs, has been made Additional Secretary (Financial Sector) in the same department after promotion. His name has of late figured in media speculation for the post of Director-General of Doordarshan.

Mr. Misra, who succeeded Ajay Prasad as OSD to Mr. Advani in the rank of Joint Secretary, has been promoted to Additional Secretary rank. Mr. Prasad was earlier appointed Defence Secretary.

Ranjit Isar, Joint Secretary in the Defence Ministry, has been promoted to the rank of Additional Secretary in the same Ministry.

Jainder Singh, Managing Director of National Horticulture Board, has been appointed Secretary of Union Public Service Commission in the rank of Additional Secretary.

Surinder K. Arora, now posted in Andhra Pradesh, has been shifted to the Centre and appointed Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser, Department of Commerce and Dhirendra Nath Padhi, shifted from Orissa, has been made Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, a release said.
