20 injured in grenade attack

By Our Staff Reporter

Jammu Aug. 15. Twenty persons were injured, five of them seriously, when militants lobbed a grenade at a Special Operations Group camp at the Charar-e-Sharief area in central Kashmir today evening. The injured were rushed to hospital.

Meanwhile, police have denied reports of a militant attack on an army camp at Kathua district of Jammu this afternoon.

Talking to The Hindu, the DIG (Jammu-Kathua range), Farooq Ahmed, said: "There is no such incident in Kathua where any Army camp has been attacked."

Sources said that on Thursday night, the Army carried out a mock exercise of an attack in Janlote area of Kathua and people mistook it as an attack.
