While official sources confirmed the suspension of Rohit Sehgal last week, they did not elaborate upon allegations levelled against the IA officer. However, informed sources maintained that the Indian Airlines Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD), Sunil Arora, has received a detailed report on the Kuwait station manager from the IA's Chief Vigilance Officer, K.K. Sharma, and it was being examined by him. It is learnt that the CMD has taken a stern view of the allegations and further action could follow in the days to come. Sources said the airline was investigating complaints that seats were allotted at a premium in Kuwait when the Iraq war broke out in March-April and IA flights were much sought after. It is learnt that the CVO's detailed report on Mr. Sehgal has run into a thick volume. Considered by his colleagues as an "achiever", Mr. Sehgal had joined the airline in 1983 as a management trainee. He bagged the first posting abroad three years ago as Station Manager, Kuwait. Though his rank was that of a Senior Manager, he chose to forego promotion just eight months after his posting in Kuwait. He was promoted as the Deputy General Manager with a posting in Delhi, his home town.
