By Our Staff Correspondent

CHANDIGARH AUG. 16. The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Chandigarh, C.L. Mohal, has summoned the Punjab Chief Minister, Amarinder Singh, to appear before him on September 20 after the court decided prima facie to proceed against him in a criminal defamation case filed by the Leader of the Opposition, Parkash Singh Badal.

The Magistrate issued the direction while hearing the application filed by Mr. Badal, seeking a Rs. 5 crore compensation from Capt. Amarinder Singh for making baseless charges against him.

Though Mr. Badal was represented by his counsel, N.S. Minhas, the Akali stalwart was present in the packed courtroom.
