Anuja pockets title

MUMBAI Aug. 16. The marathon back-to-back matches en route to the final seem to have affected top seed Vidya Pillai. The National champion met a tame end against Anuja Thakur in the most important match of the D-Link sixth All-India ladies snooker tournament, co-sponsored by Om Kotak Mahindra Insurance and Fuchs Lubricants, on Saturday.

The defending champion won 4-1 to regain the title at the Bombay Gymkhana.

The Maharashtra cueist drove home the advantage of familiar conditions to win the best-of-seven frame final 65-32, 34-43, 52-36, 67-31, 51-31 for a purse of Rs. 12,000.

The results (final): Anuja Thakur (Mah) bt Vidya Pillai (TN) 65-32, 34-43, 52-36, 67-31, 51-31.
