In all, 12 outfits will take part in the tournament, and this includes teams from Tamil Nadu, Bengal, Hyderabad, and Rajasthan. In the opening round of matches, Associate Banks meets the Tamil Nadu Districts XI, Hyderabad XI takes on Air India and TNCA president's XI duels it out with Rajasthan. Speaking at a press conference in this regard, here, on Saturday night, Mr. N. Srinivasan, president, Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, said some good cricketers and teams will be on view during the competition that concludes on August 31. Mr. Srinivasan thanked Sahara for coming forward to sponsor the event for the second successive year. "I convey my deep sense of gratitude to them," Srinivasan said. The prize money has been increased to Rs. One lakh for the winner and Rs. 50,000 for the runner-up. The losing semifinalists will receive Rs. 15,000 each. The venues for the tournament are MAC, ICL-Guru Nanak ground, SRMC (turf), CPT-India Pistons, and Vivekananda-SICAL. There will be three teams from Tamil Nadu holder SPIC-TNCA XI, TNCA president's XI, and the districts. Commenting on the selection of the State teams for the competition, Mr. Srinivasan said, "We have not broken any long-standing tradition while picking teams for the tournament." He expressed hope that the sides making the final might get the permission to field players who are currently a part of the conditioning camp for the Indian probables in Bangalore. Mr. Vishal Tyagi represented Sahara in the press meet. A few promising youngsters apart from some experienced hands can be seen during the tournament, which is one of the important pre-season events. The final will be at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium from August 29 to 31.
