Cell, basic firms resume battle

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI AUG 19 . The cellular and basic phone companies today resumed their dispute before the Telecom Dispute Appellate and Settlement Tribunal (TDSAT) on a petition filed in March 2002 contesting a technical issue that could have an important bearing on limited mobility (WLL-M) operations.

Counsel for the cellular phone companies argued that the `V5.2 interface' for the basic companies was a subsidiary issue and the main issue was the use of the mobile switching centre (MSC).

Counsel for the basic phone companies objected to the cellular companies insisting on curbing the use of MSCs.
