Letters to the Editor
Sir, Your editorial, "Supreme Court and the right to strike" ( Aug. 13 ) was thought provoking. The Attorney General, Soli Sorabjee, had noted the legal harm that will result from the judgment and your editorial put it beyond doubt that the verdict hurts at the root of democratic rights. Whether it is the `judgment' or `set of observations,' it is the pronouncement that will lead to all sorts of interpretations. The Tamil Nadu Government has already started acting on its own interpretation, by banning all the associations of Government employees and teachers without any regard to notice, explanation and enquiry. T.V. Padmanabhan, Chennai
