Letters to the Editor
Sir, The recent parting of ways between the Congress and the veteran leaders, N.K.P. Salve and Vasanth Sathe, over the Vidarbha issue should serve as an eye-opener for the party. The advantage of smaller States has been established repeatedly. The stubbornness of the Congress in resisting the demand for smaller States can only harm its own prospects and that of the country. The earlier it reverses its policy, the better.
K.P. Luke Vydhian,
Sir, The hierarchical dispensation of the Congress has been its unmaking. It has not only precipitated a leadership crisis but also developed a disdain for independent, thinking, honest people. The classic example is that of Feroze Gandhi who defied the establishment and paid the price. The party's ideological base is constantly eroded by shilly-shallying.
J.V. Reddy,
