Detained for possessing `forged' passport

CHENNAI AUG. 21. The Chennai Airport Immigration authorities have detained a politburo member of the Maoist party of Nepal on charges of possessing a forged passport.

According to airport police and immigration sources, the passenger claiming to be a British passport-holder, had arrived from Kolkata on Sunday to leave by a Frankfurt-bound Lufthansa flight that midnight.

After completing the check-in formalities, the airport immigration officials suspected the travel document to be a tampered one. Police investigation revealed that he had removed the photograph from a British passport and pasted his to "look like a British national". His ultimate destination was London.
