Woman slaps CPI leader

By Our Staff Reporter

GUNTUR Aug. 22. Slap in the face? Ask this "unfortunate'' CPI leader how it would be. It is a classic case of an enraged woman who could not stand the inconvenience being caused to the general public. The result; the woman ventured to slap a CPI leader.

Activists of the CPI, the CPI(M), the Congress and some other organisations reached Sankara Vilas centre on Friday morning to stage a "rasta-roko'' against the liquor policy of the Government. As the agitators squatted on the road, a car came on the scene and the driver started honking the horn. However, the protesters ignored it. Angered by this, the person driving the car came out and picked up an altercation with the agitating lot. Mild tension ensued as he asked how many of the agitators were teetotallers. Eventually, the agitators pushed him. Sensing trouble, the helpless dude went and sat in his car.

Enraged, a woman in the car flung open the door, jumped out of it and closed the door with a bang, displaying all her fury. She walked up to the CPI leaders who were at the "vanguard'' of the agitation and picked up an argument. After a heated wordy duel, the leaders had to taste her verbal wrath. The woman hurled invectives at them. She sought to know if they could catch hold of the guzzlers or owners of wine shops or even the government officials. She told the protesters to agitate in front of the houses of boozers, instead of causing hardship to road-users.

As a senior CPI leader and the woman continued to trade charges, the woman lost her temper, held the man by his collar and slapped him.
