Apang, team for joining BJP

Itanagar Aug. 22. The Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Gegong Apang, and all 38 Congress breakaway MLAs of his 42-member coalition Ministry today wrote to the Assembly Speaker, Siton Sena, expressing their wish to join the BJP en masse, raising prospects of the first-ever saffron rule in the northeastern State.

Mr. Sena said he would take a decision on Monday since only 26 of the 38 legislators belonging to the Congress (D) came before him after he directed them to do so following receipt of their letters expressing the desire to join the BJP.

He said he had received a separate letter from the Chief Minister, the only member of the Arunachal Congress in the 60-member House.

Mr. Apang said ``Let the final decision come from central BJP leaders.'' — PTI
