One more cholera case in capital city

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM AUG. 23. A 27-year-old-woman patient was on Saturday diagnosed with cholera, taking the total number of patients infected with the vibriocholera organism since the outbreak of the monsoon to 15.

According to staff at the office of the DMO, the patient hailing from Nemom was admitted to the Women and Children's Hospital, Thycaud.

The bulk of cholera cases and acute diarrhoeal diseases have been reported from Tiruvallam area in the city.

Meanwhile, seven new cases of dengue cases were confirmed in laboratory tests conducted on in-patients at various hospitals in the city and suburbs.

The dengue cases in the city were reported from the airport area, Kumarapuram and Karamana.

The other cases were reported from Kallara, Vamanapuram, Kattakada and Chettivilakam.

The results of laboratory tests on three suspected cases of dengue are awaited.

According to health staff, an estimated 328 patients reported with complaints of viral fever at various hospitals in the district on Saturday.
