Speaking on the occasion, he said that the corporation was striving hard to meet the demands of the commuters by getting new facilities. The RTC Regional Manager, S. Nagaraju, said 29 town services were being plied between Renigunta and Chandragiri with 286 single trips a day, that comes to a frequency of 10 minutes. However, a survey conducted last month revealed that 75 jeeps were running illegally on the route, causing a daily loss of Rs.50,000 to the corporation and that half of the travellers were ladies, who found it inconvenient to travel during peak hours and hence the special service. A student special was also introduced from Tirupati to Rangampet and Chandragiri, Janapriya service to Panapakam and non-stop services to Chandragiri. Eighty passenger guides would be deployed at important traffic generating points to facilitate patronage to RTC buses by keeping private vehicles at bay, he noted. Earlier, Mr. Singh visited the time-keeping centre at Alipiri depot.
