93 p.c. polling in KSEB referendum

By Our Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Aug. 23. The referendum conducted in the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) today witnessed over 93 per cent polling, according to preliminary estimates.

The polling carried out at 222 booths spread across the State will decide the support base of eight trade unions that are participating in the referendum. For a union to win recognition in the KSEB, it has to win the support of at least 20 per cent of the KSEB employees, numbering nearly 20,000.

The ballot boxes will be brought to the KSEB headquarters here tomorrow.

The counting of votes is scheduled to take place on Monday.
