Rushmi and Sai win

NEW DELHI AUG. 23. Top-seeded Rushmi Chakravarthi and Sai Jayalakshmy defeated I-Hsuan Hwang of Chinese Taipei and Varanya Vijuksanaboon of Thailand 6-0, 6-0 to win the doubles title in the $10,000 ITF women's circuit tennis tournament in Colombo on Saturday.

Isha Lakhani and Archana Venkataraman lost in singles semifinals. Sixth-seeded Isha lost 4-6, 4-6 to Napaporn Tongsalee of Thailand. Fourth-seeded Archana lost 3-6, 3-6 to Nadine Hassinger of Germany.

Megha loses final: Second-seeded Megha Vakharia lost 1-6, 3-6 to Chin Bee Khoo of Malaysia in the final of the $10,000 ITF women's circuit tennis tournament in Lagos, Nigeria, on Saturday. Megha had beaten Sonal Phadke 6-3, 6-1 in the semifinals.

The top-seeded Megha and Khoo won the doubles title, beating second-seeded Sonal and Liza Pereira 6-4, 6-4.

Arunprakash and Tara lose quarterfinals: R. Arunprakash and Tara Iyer lost in the quarterfinals of the singles event in the boys and girls' sections respectively in the US junior international hardcourt championship this week.

Arunprakash lost to third-seeded Jarrett Chirico of the US 1-6, 7-5, 5-7. Tara Iyer lost 0-6, 0-6 to Lyndsay Burdete of the US.
