Alamatti Dam filling up

By Our Staff Correspondent

BIJAPUR AUG. 23. The water level in the Alamatti Reservoir on Saturday touched 519.13 m., which is only 47 cm. below the full reservoir level (FRL).

The Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Ltd. (KBJNL) is likely to increase the discharge since there has been a steady increase in the inflow in the past two days. While the inflow was 15,859 cusecs, the outflow was 6,450 cusecs today.

The downstream Narayanapur Reservoir is also filling up. The water level in the dam, whose FRL is 492.25 m., touched 491.79 m. on Saturday. Today's inflow in the dam was 7,836 cusecs, and the outflow was 5,875 cusecs.

However, sources said that if discharge was increased from Alamatti Dam, water would have to be let out from the Narayanpur Dam.

As much as 5,500 cusecs of water was released into the Narayanpur Left Bank Canal, and 350 cusecs into the Narayanapur Right Bank Canal.
