Deplorable practice

Sir, — I refer to the recent incident of ragging in IIT, Delhi. The practice is prevalent in all educational institutions, the revelation of which depends on the attitude of the authorities responsible for taking action against the "erring students." Many students do not talk about it, fearing reprisal from seniors. The issue is not taken seriously unless something drastic happens.
