Mr. Kharazzi, who was in the capital for just five hours, came to the capital at a time when the Iranian Government has serious concerns about what implications America's "double standards" on the nuclear issue might have for Teheran. Though few details of the meetings were made available officially, the Foreign Minister's flying visit in itself points to the priority the Iranians have accorded to the meetings. Mr. Kharazzi will also be travelling to China as part of his current mission. Soon after Mr. Kharazzi called on the Prime Minister, he held official talks with Mr. Sinha, who hosted a dinner for him at Hyderabad House. According to External Affairs Ministry sources, the talks are said to have covered bilateral and regional issues as well. The current situation in Iraq and Afghanistan is said to have figured in the discussions.
