Letters to the Editor
Sir, It is not as if the beef-eaters will die of starvation if the proposed bill banning cow slaughter is passed. But the loss that will accrue to the economy and shortage of grassland will compel future governments to amend the law or give unofficial instructions to ignore the law.

* * * Sir, Driven by the mindless ideology of the RSS and the VHP, the BJP is now resorting to political gimmicks. Banning cow slaughter ought to be the lowest priority of the Government. After wasting two precious parliamentary days, the bill was the least needed thing on the agenda.
Nitin Gupta,
