Police said Vijayakumar was an active member of the organisation till 1995. On Friday, he was remanded to judicial custody by an Egmore court, along with the inspector, Karunanidhi, Anilkumar and his wife, Sibi, for their alleged involvement in car theft cases. According to G. Karthikeyan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Kilpauk, the four were allegedly involved in stealing luxury cars in Chennai, Vijayawada and Mumbai. He said police had recently arrested Anilkumar, who had allegedly tried to sell a stolen car in Chennai and rounded up the others based on a tip off from him.
