Abandoned to die?

Sir, — This is with reference to the "France's heat wave" (Sept. 2). It is pathetic to note that more than 10,000 people perished for want of minimal care. The author has brought out the tragedy of self-centred living. It is sad to note that people were not ready to cancel their vacations in spite of learning that their elders were dying. There is a lot to learn from what happened in France. The youngsters have a vital role to play. They should set an example by taking care of their elders.

P. Suresh,

Hyderabad
