Sir, Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer's observations in his article, "Unifying personal laws" ( Sept. 6 ) are self-contradictory. In the first few paragraphs, he deprecates the need for a uniform code, whereas in the fourth paragraph, he specifies areas where uniformity or improvement is called for. The reference to the Babri Masjid issue is irrelevant and extraneous to the subject of a common civil code. N.R. Satyamurty, Cuddalore, T.N.
