Letters to the Editor
Sir, I laud the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister for taking bold steps to ban cow slaughter and animal sacrifice in temples. It is surprising that rational parties are criticising these measures. S. Balasubramanian, Chennai * * * Sir, The recent order banning sacrifice of animals at temples in Tamil Nadu is unwarranted. The meat of the animals sacrificed is later used as food. But the milk poured on various idols and the ghee burnt during `yagams' are wasted. The `yagams' should be banned and the milk and ghee meant for them must be distributed among the poor. Dharmaraj Joseph, Tirunelveli, T.N.
