Farmers' plight

Sir, — It is shocking to read about poor farmers in Karnataka committing suicide unable to carry the burden of their loans. Can the Government not order banks to give an interest-free grace period for farmers? The insurance companies should come forward with attractive insurance schemes for farmers and agricultural labourers.
