Letters to the Editor
Sir, The Janata Party president, Subramanian Swamy, it has been reported ( Sept. 6 ), has termed the joint statement of a few political leaders who objected to the visit of the Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, "not worthy of notice". If the statement is `not worthy of notice', why has Mr. Swamy commented on it? V. S. Jayaraman, Chennai * * * Sir, A lot of dust is being raised over Mr. Sharon' visit. We have full diplomatic relations with Israel and there is nothing wrong in inviting its Premier here. No finger was raised when India recognised Israel during P.V. Narasimha Rao's rule. Will all those opposed to Mr. Sharon's visit, bearing in mind the cause of the Palestinians, tell which Arab nation supported us in our fight against Pakistan? C. Ram Mohun, Vijayawada, A.P.
