Troops to Iraq

Sir, — India's unwillingness to send troops to Iraq even under a U.N. mandate must be appreciated. The U.S. and its partners must prove the necessity of war. The world is describing it as a war for oil.

Sir, — The U.S. wants international support for its hasty act. It did not mind overlooking the U.N. while attacking Iraq. Now it wants to wriggle out of an ugly situation with the help of the world body. The U.N. in Iraq has already paid dearly for playing second fiddle to the U.S.
