CITU expresses shock

By Our Staff Correspondent

NEW DELHI SEPT. 29. The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has expressed shock and concern over the judgment of the Kolkata High Court, prohibiting rallies and processions in the city between 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays.

Describing the order as infringement of the basic democratic right of the people to express themselves in a collective and organised manner, a statement issued by the CITU here today said it was surprising that while more serious issues pertaining to the life and livelihood of the toiling people were pending for long, the rights of commoners to air their grievances and express their demands were being curtailed one after the other.
