Letters to the Editor
Sir, I refer to the letter on Haj ( Nov. 5 ). The Government has increased the Haj flight charges from Rs.12,000 to Rs.36,000. For the past several years, the fare has been around Rs.12,000. The guidelines issued with the application in July 2003 neither informed us of the tariff nor of any intention to hike the fare. Had the applicants been informed earlier, they would have at least debated whether or not to apply. Now they are in a dilemma.
