Law to tap e-mail in Bangladesh

DHAKA NOV. 21. The Bangladesh Parliament will soon pass a law that will permit intelligence agencies to tap e-mail and Internet for "national security purposes".

According to the Bangladesh Observer, the state-run Internet Service Provider of the Bangladesh Telegraph and Telephone Board was already on the job. A parliamentary committee recently endorsed a Bill to amend the Telecommunication Act which prohibits phone tapping, the committee's head, G.M. Fazlul Huq, told presspersons.
