By Our Staff Reporter

CHENNAI NOV. 28. Dr.Mathew Samuel Kalarickal has been appointed the Honorary Director of the Institute of Cardio-Vascular Diseases at the Madras Medical Mission. He will, however, continue to work with the Apollo Hospitals.

An internationally renowned cardiologist who has performed more than 5,000 angioplasties in South-East Asia, Dr. Kalarickal is credited with bringing several new technologies, such as angioplasty, coronory stenting, rotablator and atherectomy to India, according to a Madras Medical Mission press release.

When contacted in Mumbai, Dr. Kalarickal said he would be with the Madras Medical Mission for two days a week and assist it in performing free operations to the needy.

He was most appreciative of the magnanimity of Dr. P.C. Reddy and Dr. Preetha Reddy of the Apollo Hospitals for allowing him to share his expertise with the MMM.``I shall carry on my work at the Apollo as usual," he said.
