U.P. Congress leaders thank `vaastu' for Rahul's entry

LUCKNOW, MARCH 21. The Congress in Uttar Pradesh today thanked `vaastu shastra' for the entry of Rahul Gandhi into active politics.

Yesterday, the State unit of the party had ordered the `trimming' of over 70 Ashoka trees within the party premises as, according to `vaastu,' the shadow of trees on office buildings or homes often was considered ``bad,'' the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) general secretary, Satish Ajmani, said here. Several party officials had indicated that the shadow of trees could be the main reason behind the party's bad performance in the previous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, Mr. Ajmani said.

``Look, the trimming of trees still continues and the positive results have started pouring in,'' said a top UPCC functionary from Delhi.

A contractor was on Saturday asked to trim the size of over 35-foot tall trees to a little over 10 feet.
