MTNL reduces ISD rates

NEW DELHI,
APRIL 2.
The Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited has emulated Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited by announcing lower international call charges for destinations such as the United States and the United Kingdom and South-East Asian countries.
The ISD charge for calls by MTNL's fixed-line and WLL customers (Garuda) to the U.S., the U.K. and Canada has been reduced by about six per cent to Rs. 6 and Rs. 9 a minute from Rs. 6.40 and Rs. 9.60 a minute, depending on the tariff package subscribed to by the customer.
The new pulse rate will be eight seconds compared to 7.5 seconds pulse earlier.
The charge for calls made to Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Thailand has been reduced by 25 per cent. Customers will now pay between Rs. 6 and Rs. 9 against Rs. 8 and Rs. 12, based on the tariff package.
As is the case with BSNL's new ISD rates, MTNL's new tariff will take effect from April 10.
