Report on Haryana Governor's speech sent to President
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI,
APRIL 28.
The Union Home Ministry has sent a report to the President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, on the Haryana Governor, Babu Parmanand's reported speech praising the Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and criticising the INLD Government as well as the Congress.
Official sources said the report, received by the President's Secretariat, would be examined to see if the remarks were not in keeping with the dignity and decorum of the high office. The President felt that Governors should not be seen favouring any political party.
The sources said the "factual report" contains the summary of the Governor's speech and his explanation for making the remark.
The Home Ministry had asked the Secretary to the Governor to furnish the details of the speech made in Rewari on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti.
